Frequently Asked Questions
The Even Bill Rate allows you to pay the same monthly bill amount for one full year.
There are two components:
- A base charge that is determined by averaging the most recent 12 months of electric bill history plus a risk premium that is used to cover environmental factors such as weather or lifestyle changes.
- State and local taxes.
Detailed information on how the rate is calculated.
The Even Bill amount will be calculated based on premise history until energy usage is established. New members who select the Even Bill rate plan are subject to a bill recalculation at the end of the first 6-month period and the end of the 12-month period to ensure billing accuracy. Your Even Bill amount will only be recalculated after six months if the energy use exceeds the service location usage amount by double or greater. All Even Bill rates are recalculated annually at the end of the 12-month period. The new Even Bill rate will appear on your billing statement.
The Even Bill rate is available to members who have 12 months of billing history at their specific service location.
Members who sign up for Even Bill must remain on the rate for 12 consecutive months.
Your base charge is automatically recalculated at the end of the 12-month billing period.
Members will receive a bill message on the twelfth billing statement explaining that a new base charge has been calculated and will be effective on the next billing statement.
With the Even Bill rate, there is no true-up or deferred amount that you will pay at the end of the full year (12 consecutive billing periods). However, the base charge may change within the billing year if electric use increases 50 percent or more as compared to the same month in the previous year.
New and existing residential members are eligible to sign up for the Even Bill rate, if the service location has 12 consecutive months of usage history. Members enrolled in Budget Billing or Rooftop Solar are not eligible for the Even Bill rate.
