Our Service and Reliability

Cobb EMC’s key to superior reliability is offering service from a variety of sources. Each of our more than 200 distribution circuits is tied in with others so, if necessary, power can be delivered from an adjoining circuit.

Large industrial/commercial members also benefit from the Integrated Transmission System (ITS), which makes backup equipment from all suppliers in the state available (regardless of ownership) in the event of an emergency.

We offer a variety of standard voltages, both single-phase and three-phase, to meet the requirements of any project. Businesses may choose either overhead or underground service. Both offer switching capabilities for backup sources of power. Underground service has a looped distribution system so our crews can perform work on either side of the loop.

Cobb EMC’s state-of-the-art Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system helps us achieve consistent reliability. Our Power Control technicians monitor all substations 24/7. They are able to perform functions remotely and to instantly know the operating condition of equipment. This means we can preventatively maintain the system and efficiently respond to abnormal conditions, if they occur, without lost time from site visits or circuit overloads.

Cobb EMC works with local & state agencies to attract businesses and help our economy grow. Large power users may choose their supplier for new facility construction through the Georgia Legislature’s Georgia Territorial Electric Service Act (GTESA) of 1973. With a connected load of over 900 kilowatts or greater, you may have a choice! Companies interested in learning more about available sites and buildings in Georgia can use Georgia EMC's Georgia Center for Site Selection.
