Kelly Bodner has made history by being named chair of the Cobb EMC Board of Directors, making her the first woman to accept the role since the cooperative's inception in 1938. As a member-owned cooperative, Cobb EMC is regulated by a board of nine directors, elected from and by the membership. Bodner will continue to represent the members of District 3, as she has since 2012.

“Cobb EMC is very special to me not only because we have the lowest rates in the state and the best reliability in the nation, but because we give back to the communities we serve,” said Bodner. “I look forward to continually working hand in hand with our hard-working employees and dedicated board to create new opportunities for our members.”

Bodner is a Title I District Academic Coach for Cobb County Schools. She holds a specialist degree from Kennesaw State University in Education Leadership. Bodner has been recognized as Life Safe Women of Achievement, Georgia's Elementary Science Teacher of the Year, and Cobb County's Russell Elementary Teacher of the Year.

“I’ve had the pleasure to work alongside Kelly for many years, and she is dedicated to serving our members and our community,” said Kevan Espy, President and CEO of Cobb EMC. “Kelly brings experience to our board of directors, and I look forward to her leadership as she continues to foster ideas and make decisions in the best interest of our members.”

In addition to Bodner leading and coaching schools with Title I programs, she organizes county and statewide science competitions. She enjoys volunteering with Must Ministries, Chattahoochee River Keepers, and Keep Smyrna Beautiful. Bodner lives in Smyrna with her husband and has a son who is a junior at the University of Cincinnati.
