Board member since 2011. Mr. Crowell worked for 20 years as CEO of Cobb-based Georgia Motor Trucking Association, Inc. He has more than 15 years experience serving as a board member for several national member-based organizations and 19 years of government affairs work. His early career included training in finance and accounting, and public policy research, some work with financial due diligence teams. Mr. Crowell holds two degrees in political science from Liberty University and Georgia State University. He is an active volunteer in the community, including having served as a youth soccer coach, Sunday school teacher and member of several church committees, animal shelter volunteer, Polk Street Players volunteer and involved in other charitable projects around the area. He was also appointed to the Cobb Neighborhood Safety Commission by Attorney General Sam Olens, who was Cobb County Commissioner at the time. He and his wife Cynthia reside in Powder Springs and have two children.
Rudy Underwood has 30 years experience managing public affairs, public policy and public relations issues with membership based organizations in Georgia. Currently he is Senior Director of Government Affairs for the Cobb-based Southern Region Operations of the American Chemistry Council. In addition, he has served on boards of directors of several local, state and national organizations. He is an active member of Burnt Hickory Baptist Church. Underwood and his wife Carol have two adult daughters.
Kelly Bodner has been a Cobb County resident for 15 years and is a Cobb County school teacher. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education. Bodner has been recognized as Cobb County’s Russell Elementary School Teacher of the Year and most recently has also been named Georgia’s Elementary Science Teacher of the Year (for 2012). In addition to her teaching activities, Bodner volunteers as a Board Member for Smyrna Tee Ball, being a Soccer League Communications Coordinator and Scout Leader. Bodner and her husband live in Smyrna with their son.
David McClellan has been a member of Cobb EMC for 25 years. He is a certified public accountant and a certified cash manager with more than 30 years of managerial and executive experience in public accounting for Fortune 500 and privately held companies, in addition to 12 years experience with a public utility. McClellan holds an undergraduate degree in accounting and an MBA in finance from Georgia State University. He and his wife, Carmen, live in East Cobb's Chimney Springs subdivision and have two children. McClellan has been active in the community through youth softball coaching, the Y-Guides parent/child program and involvement with children's programs at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church and Chattahoochee Baptist Church.
William C. Sharp, III (Tripper) has served on the Cobb EMC Board of Directors since 2012. He currently serves on the board's Budget and Finance Committee and the Governance Committee. Sharp has more than 13 years of experience in the mortgage industry working in various leadership roles including executive management. He was a founding member of the Cobb EMC Owners Association (CEOA) and served on the executive committee of the CEOA. He also has experience serving on several state and local boards. He holds a bachelor's degree from Kennesaw State University and resides in the Autumn Ridge subdivision with his wife Marlo and their sons Cameron and Barrett.
Board member since 2011. Mr. Tennant served as the COO of a publicly held company and his energy experience spans more than 25 years. Mr. Tennant has served as Vice-Chairman, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Atlanta Section; Vice-Chairman, National Energy and Economics Committee, (ASME) 2005-2006; Vice President, Georgia Music Industry Association; and Business/Managerial Coach to Executive MBA program, Kennesaw State University. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University, an MS in Technology and Science Policy from Georgia Tech and an Executive MBA from Kennesaw State University. Mr. Tennant lives in Kennesaw with his wife and two grown children.<
Board member since 2011. Malcolm "Cooter" Swanson is a life-long resident of Cobb County. Swanson is a graduate of Troy University where he received a degree in Mathematics. For the last 27 years, Mr. Swanson has owned a screen-printing and embroidery business in Cobb County. He served on the Cobb County Parks and Recreation Commission for over 15 years and as Chairman for two terms. Mr. Swanson also serves on the Board of Directors of the North Georgia State Fair and has served as President. An active member at Marietta First Baptist Church, Mr. Swanson is on the Board of Trustees and also participates as a Deacon. He has served in several additional capacities at his church, including teaching Sunday school and serving on two pastor search committees. He has mentored youth as a coach in baseball and basketball, as well as coaching Kennesaw State University's inaugural season of intercollegiate baseball. Mr. Swanson is married to Nancy Dansby Swanson and has three children.
Bryan Boyd, Vice President at Pacesetter Graphics, is a Georgia native and moved to Cobb County at age seven. Prior to joining Pacesetter Graphics, Boyd started a printing company, and, within eight years, turned it into a multi-million dollar-per-year supply company. He studied at Kennesaw State with a focus on Business Management. Boyd resides in the Hickory Spring subdivision with his wife Stacy of 22 years and is the father of three daughters.
Eric Broadwell has a diverse background in the fields of aerospace engineering, technology consulting, and nonprofit management. Broadwell has consulted for the boards of some of the nation's largest financial companies and for a local utility to implement a GIS support system for smart meters. He has designed aircraft for large corporations including Lockheed, where his designs are still in use. His career in Information Technology led him to join IBM to manage the successful launches of online banking websites. Broadwell serves on the state level nonprofit board for Georgia Bikes and was president of Bike Roswell for three years. He has been married for 24 years and has three children. He has been a Cobb EMC member since 2001 in Roswell.
